IoT and Programmable Networking Company Partner on SASE Offering
As Industrial IoT (IIoT) implementations continue to grow at a rapid pace, enterprise organizations, especially those in mission critical realms, are seeking full stack solutions which blend edge computing, cloud computing, and virtual networking that supports more sophisticated and distributed applications.
IIoT implementations serve many use cases including: transportation, building management, energy, government, smart cities, smart factories, and supply chains, where the requirement to secure data at the edge between device and cloud becomes paramount.
The number of devices are rapidly growing throughout corporate and government networks which increases the attack surface. The rise of cyberattacks on digital systems forces businesses to address this critical vulnerability with existing IIoT implementations, while influencing the way new architectures are designed, especially those which connect machines and people in the most sensitive areas, like the energy grid, public health and transportation systems.
IIoT continues to gain momentum and evolve with AI and machine learning. Three of the industry’s top challenges and concerns include data security, resiliency, and economic efficiency. To this end, Austin-based ClearBlade, the industry-leading Industrial IoT Platform and Edge Computing software company with a platform that enables enterprises to rapidly engineer and run secure, real-time, scalable IoT applications, and Dispersive Networks, based in Atlanta, Georgia, a provider of ultra-secure virtual networking for government and enterprise, announced this week that they have partnered to merge ClearBlade’s Cloud and Edge Computing technology with the Dispersive Virtual Network (DVN), making it easier to implement, protect and accelerate mission critical IoT solutions.
SASE, a framework introduced by Gartner last year, is one of the guiding principles for their partnership. SASE combines network security functions with virtual WAN capabilities to support the dynamic secure access needs of organizations. “These capabilities are delivered primarily aaS and based upon the identity of the entity, real time context and security/compliance policies,” Gartner says, and can “identity sensitive data or malware and the ability to decrypt content at line speed, with continuous monitoring of sessions for risk and trust levels.”
“ClearBlade is a recognized IoT and Edge Computing leader with amazing innovation that aligns perfectly with our experience and vision for Edge and Cloud.” said Chris Swan, Chief Revenue Officer, Dispersive. “By uniting our technologies, our customers will benefit with a simpler, faster and much more secure approach to deploying and managing their IoT solutions.”
Jointly, ClearBlade and Dispersive have developed a zero-trust and zero-touch single solution that enables that data on the edge is protected across the public Internet, LTE or any other communications network via Dispersive’s patented overlay solution that permits a fully private and ultra-secure virtual network, while increasing performance and impact strength and decreasing the cost to deploy and manage, down.
“We’re moving into a new phase in IIoT,” said Aaron Allsbrook, CTO, ClearBlade. “Trust has never been more important, and for IT professionals and end-users of IIoT applications to have confidence in their connected systems, they need to take a zero-trust posture up and down the security stack. Whether an electrical grid utility, a public transportation system, or a military facility leveraging automated systems in smart buildings, the edge data must be protected for full integrity, at the source, across the network, and in the cloud. The combination of Dispersive and ClearBlade achieves that goal while boosting performance and resiliency.”

Last weekend a number of people and businesses experienced widescale service disruption, network slowdowns, and other issues as a leading carrier grappled with significant challenges with their network.
The increasing impact of the growth of renewable energy on transmission and distribution power networks is driving disruption and the need for main grid and microgrid operators to transform their systems to enable more adaptive power flow control for the important balancing of generation and load.
Dispersive announced last week it has developed a combined offering with ClearBlade, a pioneer and fast-growing Industrial IoT software and platform company delivering sophisticated connected systems for large enterprises. We’ve been working together in our labs and behind the scenes to bundle ClearBlade’s award-winning and widely deployed IIoT solutions (which support edge, cloud and enterprise systems, big data collection, analytics and real time control systems), to make it easier for customers to benefit from zero-touch commissioning, management, and zero-trust networking.
