Dispersive Names Industry Leader Timothy Smith as CIO

ATLANTA, Georgia –

Dispersive, a provider of ultra-secure virtual networking for government and enterprise, today announced the appointment of Timothy Smith as Chief Information Officer.

Smith is a highly respected and visionary leader with years of experience in successfully aligning IT solutions with business strategy by directing the planning, budgeting, staffing, architecture, design, and implementation of state-of-the-art technology initiatives.

He joined Dispersive Networks in 2015, and in his prior as Vice President of Information Technology and Cloud at Dispersive, he has played a strategic role in overseeing the organization’s technology-related strategies and initiatives by implementing effective solutions that included enterprise resource planning, compliance, security, quality management (QMS), data analytics and business intelligence, technology development and support, and infrastructure management.

“Tim has been an essential contributor over the last six years,” David Knight, CEO, said. “His vision, experience, intelligence, and work ethic have set the bar high, and in this new position as an officer of the company and key member of our leadership team, he will play an even more strategic role in how Dispersive moves forward as demand for secure and high-performing private networking solutions grows.”

Before joining Dispersive Networks in 2015, Smith served as a Director of Application Development for Turner Broadcasting, another Atlanta-based company. At Turner, he led the operations technology team in building and supporting innovative solutions that enabled employees, customers, and partners to scale and grow the business.

Smith oversaw quality assurance of over 200 systems comprised of custom-developed and third-party implementations supporting Time Warner, Turner Corporate, CNN, TBS, TNT, Sports, and Cartoon linear/digital brands. In this role, he guided an organization of 100+ resources including managers, project managers, consultants, and individual contributors to provide manual, automated, and performance testing, production implementations, ITSM configuration management processes, and operational support services.

Smith was continuously promoted at Turner after successfully delivering strategic leadership and vision to align the technology architecture, functional expertise, development environments, business unit, and operational efficiencies for IT Compliance at Turner. During his career, he provided organizational guidance through the design and implementation of virtual and cloud-based solutions that reduced the overall infrastructure and operational costs by 35%. In addition, his team was responsible for implementing a data center migration strategy to transition hardware and software solutions, resulting in direct savings of over $2M.

Smith previously held leadership positions at Unisys in the banking and financial services group after graduating from the University of Alabama. He has been a volunteer at the Boy Scouts of America for over 16 years and has been a mentor at Georgia First Robotics for 12 years.

“It is an honor to be named CIO for Dispersive, a company I will enjoy contributing to, and I am excited for the opportunity to help deliver a technology which I am confident will change the way enterprises and organizations, including government agencies, create, manage and evolve highly secure, high-performance private networks,” Smith said. “As threats to critical infrastructure grow, and as legacy approaches are no longer sustainable, the work the Dispersive team undertakes is more meaningful than ever.”
